  Victoria Tower

Situated on a hill-top overlooking Gorey and Anne Port, Victoria Tower was purchased by the Trust in 1980. It was constructed in 1837 and was the last Martello tower to be built in Jersey. Surrounded by a dry moat, the tower housed a gun crew of five who slept in hammocks slung from hooks in the vaulted ceiling. The site, an ideal base for walking activities, is surrounded by wooded slopes and Côtils, and features an oak grove planted in memory of Mr Bob Paton. (More...)

Site Guidance

The site is available for hire until 10:30pm. The interior of the property is unfurnished but there is electricity.

Barbecues can be used on the site but need to be lit in a specifically designed receptacle, which is free-standing and not placed on the ground. Barbecues must not be lit outside the confines of the grassed open area beside the tower. Caution should be exercised on site as the tower is located at the top of a steep hill. There are substantial drops from the roof and into the dry moat. Children must be supervised at all times.

Although there are no toilets or water on site, public toilets can be found at Anne Port Bay and Gorey Harbour.
