Room 3, Grève de Lecq Barracks

Situated within Grève de Lecq Bay, the Barracks were purchased by the Trust in1972. Constructed between 1810 and 1815 to provide accomodation for the soldiers who guarded the Bay from French invasion, the Barracks housed regiments of troops up until 1926. Room 3 was originally used as a dormitory for 20 soldiers.

The hooks used to hang oil lamps are still in situ on the overhead beams and a ventilated cupboard with a slate shelf was used to keep food fresh. (More...)
