  Le Don Hilton

Situated beside the sea wall in St Ouen’s Bay, this distinctive white 18th century building is also known as La Caumine a Marie Best. Donated to the Trust in 1975 by Mrs M.G. Hilton, the building originally served as St Peter’s Parish Guard House. The surrounding land is salt-drenched during stormy weather and the rare Alderney Sea Lavender flourishes on site, together with Common Thrift and Jersey Thrift. (More...)

Site Guidance

The site is an ideal base for beach activities and the interior of the property, although unfurnished can accommodate up to 10 people in sleeping bags.

Barbecues can be used on the site but need to be lit in a specifically designed receptacle, which is free-standing and not placed on the ground. Barbecues must not be lit outside the confines of the Guardhouse building’s boundary.

Although there are no toilets, electricity or water on site, public toilets can be found at Big Vern’s Diner to the north and La Braye slip to the south.

In addition to the General Terms and Conditions, Special Terms and Conditions apply to the site of Le Don Hilton.
