La Plaine, Le Don Paton

ST JOHN,  donated 1995 by Sir Angus Paton

This large area (78 vergees) of coastal land located between Sorel Point and Les Mouriers Valley was donated by Sir Angus Paton in 1995. Comprising of coastal heathland and small agricultural fields, as well as a derelict two bedroom cottage, Sir Angus called the area ‘The Moor’. Today the land is no longer in agricultural usage and is undergoing a heathland restoration programme. During early summer, foxgloves and red campion are in abundance providing a stunning backdrop to the breathtaking views over the sea and to the other Channel Islands.
